Magicka Vietnam ETA 1 Month
Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt announced that the first Magicka expansion will be here “in about a month”
Johan Pilestedt talked about a lot of things recently.
“Something that people do wrong in comedy is that they go overboard in every single way. It’s like riding a rollercoaster and it’s always on the highest level. It’s going to get boring… Obviously, we have to focus purely on the fun aspects of the Vietnam War: rock music and cool explosions… The actual Vietnam War was a horrible war.”
That’s him explaining the reasoning behind Magicka Vietnam, besides being an obvious jab at Battlfield: Bad Company 2. Surprisingly, his logic is not wrong. A rollercoaster with only high points will leave me with a pair of very smelly jeans with a huge brown blot around my back pocket areas. Moving onto the next quote before we go into too much details.
“The minute we saw the response [to the bugs], we made a decision to stay in the office until we fixed most of the issues. And we did.”
This one is about the countless bugs that Magicka had at launch. Pilestedt claimed that they worked 14 hours a day (starting at 8AM) to fix those bugs. If that’s true, Arrowhead would be one of the best indie developers of all times. Until they show me a big pile of coffee cups or soda cans, I’ll stay neutral on this statement.
“We’re working on bringing Magicka to consoles — we are, really. The problem is that it’s not up to us. It’s up to Sony and Microsoft, really, but we’re working on getting it to consoles. That’s the way it should be played.”
Really? Magicka should be played on a console? After all the things PC gamers did for you guys? I think you should really consider shifting your focus, Mr. Pilestedt.
