This October there is an untold amount of epic games coming out, which will you choose to spend your money on?![]()
Yes, looks like that latest paycheck is going to go quicker then usual. But I’m not complaining, but with so many highly anticipated and rated games being released this month, which will get our money. I’m going for UK release dates here by the way.
October 4th - 14th
NBA 2K12 [Xbox 360, PS3, PC, PSP, Wii]: Everyone is familiar with this extremely popular basketball simulation by now. Featuring NBA legends as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird as well as a host of present NBA players, NBA 2K12 promises to be packed with new and exciting features NBA 2K12 will put fans center court of an unprecedented basketball experience. Due out October 4th.
Payday: The Heist [PS3, PC]: This intense first person shooter lets players take on the role of a hardened career criminal pulling death-defying heists in the never-ending pursuit of the next ‘big score.’ Players will embark on a crime spree of six heart stopping heists, including blasting their way through a downtown bank vault robbery, managing hostages in an armored car hijacking and even a midnight infiltration of a top-secret, high-security facility. Due out October 4th.
NBA Jam: On Fire Edition [PS3, Xbox 360]: The second edition of EA’s NBA Jam arcade basketball franchise, NBA Jam: On Fire Edition features exciting new gameplay enhancements. Play solo, or team up with friends and online! On Fire Edition will change the way players play this iconic franchise. All your favorite moves, spins and dunks are still available but now the game includes a host of gameplay improvements. Enhanced gameplay, ground breaking artificial intelligence and exciting online features continue to bring countless hours of enjoyment to this over-the-top experience. The PS3 Edition is due October 4th, the Xbox 360 Edition 5th of October.
The Hidden [3DS]: You are a paranormal investigator by searching, capturing and destroying supernatural entities hidden within your own surroundings. The Hidden is an augmented reality game turns your handheld into a portal to the astral plane as you hunt through real-world environments with the Nintendo 3DS camera. As a member of the elite G.E.I.S.T. squad, Ghostly Entity Investigation and Strike Team, you must work with your team to track, capture, shoot and eliminate evil spirits, including fast-moving Kamikazes and Tanks, solid phantoms armed with claws. Due out October 4th.
Spiderman: Edge of Time [PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii]: Step into the shoes of the Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Man: Edge of Time propels gamers on an adventure in which the heroic web-slingers must urgently work together across time to save each other and prevent a disaster that ultimately leads to the death of the Amazing Spider-Man. The game utilizes ‘picture-in-picture’ moments where the actions of the Spider-Man in the present immediately affect the Spider-Man in the future and his surroundings. Due out October 4th.
Dark Souls [PS3, Xbox 360]: This game doesn’t really need an introduction. It has been one of the most highly anticipated games of the year, promising to be an epic sequel to Demon Souls. Are you prepared to die? Due out October the 7th.
Rage [PS3, Xbox 360, PC]: Rage is a first-person shooter set in the not-too-distant future after an asteroid impacts Earth, leaving a ravaged world behind. You emerge into this vast wasteland to discover humanity working to rebuild itself against such forces as raider gangs, mutants, and the Authority — an oppressive government regime that has a special interest in you in particular. I myself actually previewed this game, so if you won’t to know more about it, check out the preview here. Due out October 7th.
Dance Dance Revolution II [Wii]: Dance Dance is the definitive Music & Motion game that combines fun, fitness, competition, dance and music. It’s become exceedingly popular over the time as a Wii exclusive. This new rendition boasts over 50 songs and a whole host of features for dance fanatics. Due out October 11th.
Dragon Age 2: Mark Of The Assassin [PS3, Xbox, PC]: Now this isn’t a game but another expansion for the Dragon Age 2 saga. In this one, you embark on an adventure as Hawke is joined by a mysterious elf assassin, Tallis. Voiced by the famous ‘The Guild’ actress Felicia Day, this new party member comes complete with her own unique combat style and intriguing back story. With Tallis, you must infiltrate a Orlesian estate outside Kirkwall and steal a precious relic. Along the way, you will uncover an array of impressive weapons and equipment, and confront fearsome and challenging new enemies. Due out October 11th.
Forza Motorsport 4 [Xbox 360]: Why oh why oh why is this not coming out for PS3. Not unlike how I bought a PS3 for Metal Gear Solid 4′s release, I may just have to purchase an Xbox 360 for Forza’s. I played this game at Eurogamer, you can watch that here and I fell in love. But alas, I can not play it. Do tell me if it’s worth buying a console for. Due out October 14th.
Dead Rising 2: Off The Record [PS3, Xbox 360, PC]: No-one seems to be quite sure whether this is a sequel, an expansion or what, but if you are a fan of Dead Rising, it’s definitely worth taking a look at. This installment sees survivor and hero of Dead Rising, photojournalist Frank West, take centre stage as players experience a very different interpretation of events in this, a re-imagining of the Fortune City outbreak. Due out October 14th.
October 15th – 31st
Pet Zombies [3DS]: Pet Zombies lets players raise their very own decaying human pets by managing their special dietary preferences, bodily maintenance and morbid activities needed to keep them happily undead. Players can choose to play with, care for, or even mischievously torment their zombies in creepy locations like cemeteries, evacuated malls or rundown military bases. Players will also use the Nintendo 3DS accelerometer controls in various activities, including rolling zombie heads through mazes, and can earn trophies and in-game currency to spend in the Zombie Pet Shop. Due out October 18th.
Batman: Arkham City [PS3,Xbox 360, Pc]: Another game that needs no introduction, every Batman is twitching to get their hands on this latest Batman game. This installments sends players soaring over the skies of Arkham City, the new maximum security home for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City. Due out October 21st.
Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi [PS3, Xbox 360]: Prepare to dive into the world of Dragon Ball Z with Earth-shaking combat, a massive character selection, faithful manga-style graphics, and exciting new features in Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi! Delivering an explosive DBZ fighting experience, this game features upgraded environmental and character graphics, with designs drawn from the original manga series. Destructible battlefields, including massive craters and ki blasts cutting across the sky deliver offering more exhilarating fights. Due out October 25th.
Battlefield 3 [PS3, Xbox 360, PC]: With the Beta out and already being rinsed, the anticipation for the full games release is high. Thumb Culture previewed the Battlefield 3 Beta here. That aside, Battlefield 3 seems to be turning a lot of heads, so make sure to check it out, though I doubt you haven’t already. Due out 25th of October.
Of course, this isn’t the full list, but these are the ones we recommend you keep an eye out for. Whichever you choose, have fun.
