GTA V: No San Fierro, No Las Venturas

Rockstar announcement says it’s Los Santos only.

Sorry, kids. I feel like I’ve just had to tell you your dog’s dead, and now your mum is too.

The internet’s been getting all sorts of excited (which is a nice change from pessimism and bigotry) over that-trailer-you’ve-watched-20-times. But, as we do when we get excited, we go too far. The trailer only showed us Los Santos, but you wanted the whole state. Well, here’s the word from Rockstar themselves:

We are very proud to officially announce that Grand Theft Auto V is in full development.

Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created.

A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California.

Nothing to cry about though. Largest most ambitious game sounds good to me. And one huge city and the surrounding terrain is better than three itty-bitty ones. As you can see from the trailer, this Los Santos has grown since San Andreas days. Plus, having Not-Las-Vegas just over a bridge from Not-San-Francisco wouldn’t quite fit with their new, realist direction.

Ok, fine, you can cry now.

They need more than just an urban environment. That was a problem for GTA 4. All Urban. No rolling hills, no forests, no anything except more city. After a while you sort of get bored with it.

I’ve always said, smaller sand box worlds with more to do in them. Sand Andreas was huge but couldn’t do anything. told.

Couldn’t do anything? LMAO did you play that game? there was lot of stuff to do, you knwo the game have from release to nowadays, over 500 thousand million copies and only like 100mil has completed the game, why? cause they just stood playing around in the world of San Andreas lol I wish they put the three cities back, as the info is just talking about the plot of the trailer. There is no confirmation that Las Venturas and San Fierro aren’t coming back, until i don’t hear it from Rockstar themselves, it is no confirmation, if rockstar confirms they ain’t coming back, then I will cry :)

  3. [...] what these trailers are all about right? What we do know for a fact is that the game will be set in Los Santos only, so say Rockstar anyway, and they would know. Tell your [...]

I am still playing GTA4 to this day… that is one game I will NEVER sell and NEVER stop playing… the game itself is so much fun and then all of the crazy games friends and I have come up within the realm of GTA4 on top of that = non-stop action.

re-imagined, present day Southern California. think like a politician read between the lines and see the fine print that is not their los santos is based on LA LA is in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA plus the countryside beaches surrounding hills no mention AT ALL of the 2 other cities therefore they most not be thier

They’re very specific on what IS there, and there’s zero mention of other cities. Plus, a ‘reimagined Southern California’ would only include Los Santos.

Aghh.. this breaks my heart. Oh well, dreams never come true. It’s great to hear it’s in San Andreas again instead of Liberty City or some other urban city. Go Rockstar Games!

Even if the city is only Los Santos initially. There is always the possibility of dowloadable content which could include another city. Maybe, wishful thinking probably though.

Looking back at History of Rockstar. They don’t unveil everything in the first trailer. When San Andreas came out back in the day the first trailer only showed Los Santos. They didn’t unveil the other cities until later. I’m of the mindset that I’d would be technology impossible to fit even one city the size they’re plan on a single disk but they will probably lower the textured and make you download an upgrade like Battlefield 3. On the same download note they would be able to create an entire state in fit it on a disk but I believe they’re in the business of making money and think additional map add ons will be part of any DLC. That’s how they can add the remaining cities of San Andreas.

If GTA V doesn’t have at least 2 out of 3 cities from San Andreas, then it will never be as good as San Andreas, and if it’s not as good as San Andreas, I won’t play it.
Rockstar is really weird. In 2005, they have the technology to make a huge world, but seven years later they don’t? In San Andreas you could make a car fly, or even wear a jetpack! But in later GTAs, you can’t. I doubt GTA V will be any better.

I agree!!!! GTA SAN ANDREAS it’s the best GTA game ever…..if GTA V won’t have Las Venturas and San Fierro I would not like GTA V as GTA SAN ANDREAS!!!!!!!!!!!!At the first trailer of GTA SAN ANDREAS we saw ONLY Los Santos and then at the 2nd we saw an SF and LV!!!!!!!! If it is real that this mountain was Mountain Chiliad, then it will have and San Fierro…..I wish it could have and San Fierro and Las Venturas or only one of these cities….GTA 4 it is so bored because it is only the city of New York with no driving airplanes, with no driving trains, with no mountains, lakes, rivers……I want in GTA V drive airplanes and trains……Also, I want to say that the city of Los Santos was a little bored city…I liked but not as San Fierro or Las Venturas…
    Steve,
    I’m from Greece!!!!
