Find out how the cult of Sonic will be celebrating his 21st birthday.
Hey, Sonic fanatics!
While many of you may be thrilled by the upcoming release of Sonic & Sega’s All Star Racing 2 and Sonic 4 Episode 2 later to come this year, some more exciting news has been released.
According Sega’s blog, the Sonic celebration event, Sonic Boom returns this year. The Sonic Boom event was first presented in July 2011 in the US as a tribute to Sonic the Hedgehog for his 20th anniversary since his first appearance in 1991.
It was also the blue hero’s 20th birthday and those who attended it had a blast with musical performances done by Crush 40 and Alex Makhlouf. Fans had the opportunity of a lifetime in meeting people behind the music and video games and also got a chance to play the Sonic Generations demo before anyone else and other great benefits. People were also given swag to take home such as T-shirts and buttons.
While this year’s Sonic Boom event is sketchy, what can be said about it is that it will be held during the San Diego Comic-Con at San Diego, CA on July 13, 2012 at the House of Blues from 5 P.M.-10 P.M. (Friday the 13th, eh?)
UK fans? Hotel accommodations can be made at the San Diego Comic-con hotel page if you’re willing to travel. If not, you can still benefit from this year’s Summer of Sonic in London, England on Saturday, July 7th.
*Recently, Sega has announced more information in regards to tickets… it’s not free. The tickets for the event must be purchased through Ticketmaster and the cost is $20 with both the ticket and fees.
However, don’t be too discouraged, food will be free and each person will receive a ticket that permits up to two refreshments. If over 21, alcoholic beverages are available with a valid ID.
The reason as to why there are now costs are to blame for the miscalculated head-counts made through free-ticket distribution. Apparently, tickets were being given out, but some took advantage of it and started ordering more than they needed. Sega believes that placing a price tag on the entry could help make a better calculation on just how many are actually planning to attend.
The company also says on their blog that this year’s Sonic Boom will have many more features and Crush 40 along with other musicians WILL be performing.
Tickets go on sale Monday, March 16, 2012. So get them while you still can!
We’ll keep you posted on any new information that comes up. Other than that, mark your calendars for a very special and exciting day that can please any Sonic fan!
